Work Experience

Individuals with newly acquired skills often have a difficult time finding jobs in their chosen career field because they lack experience, lack a specific skill set, or have not adequately demonstrated the ability to apply skills in a work setting. Our Work Experience program addresses these shortcomings and increases the employability of these individuals.

The Work Experience program is a planned, structured learning experience that takes place in the workplace. 100% OF WAGES FOR QUALIFIED INTERNS FOR UP TO 240 HRS FOR EMPLOYERS TO PRE-SCREEN POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES can be covered through our local workforce program. A Work Experience workplace may be in the private, for-profit, non-profit, or public sectors. Work experiences are established with employers that have current or anticipated job vacancies for position in which participants are being trained. Training plans must expose the applicant to the actual work setting.

The Work Experience program is for businesses that:

  • Are engaged in workforce development activities
  • Have demonstrated capacity to provide substantive training and supervision
  • Have a hiring need either short or long term in a skilled occupation
  • Are willing to provide a meaningful transition to employment
