September 1, 2017
Online registration for the next Residential Electronics Collection event for participating communities in Champaign County opens on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 8am. The collection event takes place on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 8am to noon at Parkland College (2400 W. Bradley Avenue in Champaign). Residents need to use the Duncan Road entrance into Parkland College.
Only residents who live in the participating communities can register: Bondville, Broadlands, Champaign, Gifford, Homer, Ivesdale, Ludlow, Mahomet, Odgen, Rantoul, Royal, Sadorus, Savoy, St. Joseph, Thomasboro, Urbana, and unincorporated Champaign County.
Residents can reserve one of the 15-minute time slots available between 8am and noon. Immediately upon reserving a time, the resident will receive an e-mail and/or text message confirming their reserved time. Then five to seven days before the event, residents will receive a postcard in the mail that will serve as their “ticket” into the event.
Information regarding accepted items can be found on the registration website. There will be a two TV limit per postcard (all types, models, and sizes of TV’s are accepted, working and non-working) and a 10-item total limit per postcard.
The RPC is co-sponsoring this event with Champaign County, City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Champaign County Court & Probation Services, and Village of Savoy. The event will go ahead rain or shine. Severe weather will increase wait times, but the wait is still minimal. The weather would have to get very severe before it is canceled.
The online registration will remain open until all of the 15-minute time slots are full. There will be approximately 1,280 spots available. Please feel free to direct any event-related questions to Deborah Peterik at email@example.com or 217-819-4035.
