A new vehicle is helping RPC staff deliver LIHEAP services directly to Champaign County residents most in need. The first and only of its kind in the state of Illinois, the LIHEAP Outreach Mobile was introduced during an event on December 14, 2022.
The vehicle is equipped with four workstations, computers, and a speaker/sound system. It will help RPC staff conduct outreach and intake for LIHEAP in Champaign County communities and neighborhoods that are hard to serve and have had low program participation.
The RPC hopes the LIHEAP Outreach Mobile can serve as a model for delivering services for other programs around the state. It will take LIHEAP directly to individuals and families during scheduled events.
Speakers at the event on December 14 included RPC CEO Dalitso Sulamoyo, LIHEAP Program Manager Dawn Rear, and David Wortman, Deputy Director for the Office of Community Assistance at the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.
