November 18, 2022
The RPC will be accepting 200 applications for our Emergency Rent Assistance (ERA) program starting on Monday, November 21, 2022. Completed applications for this final round of ERA will be accepted until 200 applications have been received or until 4pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, whichever occurs first. Payment requests will processed according to federal program guidelines for prioritization starting no later than January 9, 2023.
The ERA application and more information can be found here. Printed copies of the application will also be available during normal business hours at the RPC’s office at 1776 E. Washington Street in Urbana.
This final round of ERA will address past-due housing costs during the period of June 2022 through November 2022. The most assistance that may be provided through this application will be six months of past due housing costs. Those who have received prior ERA assistance from organizations such as the RPC and/or the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IDHA) may be limited in the amount of assistance for which they qualify, or they may not be eligible for any additional assistance.
Applicants are urged to carefully review the Income Eligibility Guidelines. If your total household gross income (the amount before taxes) is at or below the identified threshold listed, you should proceed with the application process. The income chart can be found in the application. Households with no income will not qualify for assistance. A household must have a source of income and provide documentation of it.
If the RPC receives 200 applications before the November 30 deadline, we will stop taking applications at that time. Payment requests will be submitted to the Champaign County Auditor’s Office as funding is available. It is anticipated that payments will be processed within 14-21 days of the payment request.
