RPC Opening Up Final Round of Emergency Rent Assistance Program to Eligible Champaign County Residents

November 30 at 4pm, was the last date to submit an Emergency Rent Assistance application. We are no longer accepting applications and anticipate that there will NOT be another round of assistance.

Following is the anticipated timeline related to the processes that will occur. 

December 1, 2022 – December 16, 2022

  • ERA staff will review application submissions for completeness.
  • If an application is incomplete, staff will contact the applicant by email to report that the application was incomplete and was rejected. The incomplete application will be shred.
  • ERA staff will review and determine the amounts of ERA assistance that the applicant has received to date.
  • If it is found that an applicant has already reached their maximum allowable assistance, staff will contact the applicant by email to report that they are not eligible for additional assistance and the application will be closed.
  • If an application is complete, staff will contact the applicant by email to report that the application was complete and will be moved into the next level of the review process.
  • Complete applications will be prioritized according to federal program guidelines.

December 19, 2022 – January 6, 2023

  • ERA staff will complete assistance determinations.
  • ERA staff will contact the landlords to obtain the necessary paperwork to complete assistance payment (a Vendor Agreement and W-9).

January 2, 2023 – January 31, 2023

  • Payment requests will be processed according to federal program guidelines for prioritization.
  • As funding is available, payment requests will be submitted to the Champaign County Auditor’s Office. It is anticipated that payments will be processed within 14-21 days of the payment request.
  • ERA staff will contact applicants by email providing the details of assistance.
