Transportation Assistance

We are not currently accepting new applications for Transportation Assistance (as of December 1, 2022). The funding available for assistance through June 30, 2023, has been committed. We anticipate that we will resume assistance in July 2023. Please check back in July 2023 for an update.

The RPC’s Transportation Assistance program helps Champaign County households preserve independent means of transportation as a way of eliminating potential barriers to obtaining or maintaining employment.

When funding is available, the RPC will provide eligible households an annual bus pass for public transportation or assistance to address vehicle repairs.

Eligibility Guidelines

Individuals eligible for the Transportation Assistance program include those who are employed or actively seeking employment and currently receiving SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid benefits; or able-bodied adults without dependents who have been kicked off SNAP due to benefit time limits within the past nine months.

Assistance Guidelines

$1,400 maximum benefit per household

Options:

  • Public transportation/annual bus pass ($300 maximum)
  • Auto repair ($1,400 maximum)
    • Requires proof of ownership, insurance, and driver’s license
    • Requires two estimates
