The 5-year rolling average decreased 8.4 percent from 2017 (2013-2017) to 0.72 fatalities per 100M VMT in 2018 (2014-2018), which is lower than the 2018 objective (0.75) needed for achieving 5 percent annual reduction by 2025. 2019 Positive Rating There were 0.25 traffic fatalities per 100M VMT in 2019 in the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA), a decrease from 0.79 fatalities per 100M VMT in 2017 (5-year rolling average). The 5-year rolling average decreased 19 percent from 2017 (2013-2017) to 0.64 fatalities per 100M VMT in 2019 (2015-2019), which is lower than the 2019 objective (0.71) needed for achieving 5 percent annual reduction by 2025.
