Goal   The CUUASP goal is to consistently reduce the number of fatalities and injury severities using a data-driven, strategic approach that includes education, enforcement, engineering, and emergency response.
Objective   Reduce the five-year rolling average of number of pedestrian A-injuries by 2 percent (from 13 to 11) in the Champaign-Urbana urban area.

2018 Negative Rating There were 13 pedestrian-related A-injuries in 2018 in the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA), an increase from 12.6 A-injuries in 2017 (5-year rolling average). The 5-year rolling average increased 4.7 percent from 2017 (2013-2017) to 13.2 A-injuries in 2018 (2014-2018), which is still higher than the 2018 objective (12.3) needed for achieving 5 percent annual reduction by 2025. Negative rating.
2019 Negative Rating There was 17 pedestrian related A-injuries in 2019 in the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA), an increase from 12.6 A-injuries in 2017 (5-year rolling average). The 5-year rolling average increased 7.9 percent from 2017 (2013-2017) to 13.6 A-injuries in 2019 (2015-2019), which is higher than the 2019 objective (12.1) needed for achieving 2 percent annual reduction by 2025. Negative rating.
2020 Neutral Rating There were 8 pedestrian-related A-injuries in 2020 in the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA), a decrease from 12.6 A-injuries in 2017 (5-year rolling average). The 5-year rolling average remained the same, which is higher than the 2020 objective (11.9) needed for achieving 2 percent annual reduction by 2025. Neutral rating.
2021 Neutral Rating There were 8 pedestrian-related A-injuries in 2021 in the Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA), a decrease from 12.6 A-injuries in 2017 (5-year rolling average). The 5-year rolling average decreased 1.6 percent from 2017 (2013-2017) to 12.4 A-injuries in 2021 (2017-2021), which is higher than the 2021 objective (11.62) needed for achieving a 2 percent annual reduction by 2025.
