The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission serves as a data resource for Champaign County and Champaign County municipalities.

In addition to acting as the local Census data clearinghouse, the RPC maintains a Regional Dashboard that provides demographic, economic, and other data from a variety of sources for Champaign County and its municipalities. This resource takes the place of the Champaign County Statistical Abstract and is updated frequently to ensure that all data is current and accurate.

The RPC has also developed a set of community indicators based on the 2007 Our Future. Here. community visioning project. Thirty-six indicators divided into eight categories (Accessibility, Economics & Poverty, Education, Engagement, Health, Mobility, Safety, and Sustainability) provide insight and analysis into the county and its communities.

Data Resources & Requests
RPC staff planners also respond to data requests from the general public, other RPC divisions, member agencies, and other organizations in Champaign County and East Central Illinois.

Data requests can cover a wide range of topics, but usually involve RPC staff retrieving, compiling, or interpreting data from a variety of sources for the client. Data requests can be very simple (e.g., providing the unemployment rate in Champaign County for a given year) or very complex (e.g., creating a site or area analysis, including tables, maps, and interpretation). Requests are filled within the confines of Illinois state law.

Individuals can fulfill many data inquiries using the following list of data resources:

   1. The Champaign County Regional Data Portal houses the Regional Dashboard; Community Indicators; and other datasets maintained by CCRPC, the City of Champaign, and the City of Urbana.
2. Information Clearinghouse
   1. The Champaign County Information Clearinghouse provides links to additional resources, categorized by subject, so that data users can continue their research beyond data available on the Champaign County Regional Data Portal.
3. Planning Documents & Projects
   1. The PCD Projects and Documents webpage has a variety of documents and data available to the public.
4. Planning Report Cards
   1. CUUATS maintains a variety of report cards to evaluate the progress of area plans.
5. Traffic Counts
   1. For the latest traffic count information, please see the IDOT Data Portal or the Getting Around Illinois map.

Data RequestsTo submit a request for help using the Data Resources or to ask if PCD staff have other data not listed above, contact staff planner Gabe Lewis.

1. Name
2. Method of contact (email address or phone number)
3. Agency affiliation or hometown name
4. Type of data you are looking for, and any other known details (e.g., year)

PCD staff will follow up with your request in a minimum of 48 business hours to let you know if the data is available and what other details are needed.
